These terms apply when you use Datum. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don’t, don’t use the service.

What Datum is

Datum is a subscription tool that tracks a portfolio and analyzes it: daily valuation, time- and money-weighted returns, look-through exposure, fund costs, screening and alerts. It builds its dataset from public filings, fund disclosures, official economic series and commercial market data, and refreshes it on a nightly schedule.

What Datum is not

Datum is not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, bank or tax adviser, and it is not registered as any of those. Nothing it shows you — no figure, ranking, rating, screen result or alert — is investment advice, a recommendation, a solicitation, or an offer to buy or sell any security. It does not know your circumstances and does not take them into account. Decisions you make with it are yours, and you are responsible for them. Consider taking professional advice before acting.

Accuracy, and its limits

Datum aims to be traceable rather than confident: figures are derived from documents and data feeds, and where an input is missing it is shown as missing rather than estimated. Even so, source documents contain errors, feeds are delayed or revised, corporate actions are reported late, and computations rest on assumptions. Data is provided as-is, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or timeliness. Verify anything you intend to act on against your brokerage statement or the source document. Past performance says nothing about future results.

Your account

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give accurate information, and don’t impersonate anyone or share your account with people who aren’t you.

Linked brokerage accounts

Linking a brokerage is optional. When you do, you authorize Datum to receive read-only information about the accounts you select, through a connection provider, and you confirm you are entitled to grant that access. The connection is read-only: Datum cannot trade or move money. Your brokerage’s own terms still govern your relationship with it, and what history it shares is its decision, not ours. You can unlink at any time.

Subscription, trial and billing

Datum has one paid plan, billed monthly or annually at the prices shown at checkout.
New accounts may start a seven-day free trial. Cancel before it ends and you will not be charged.
Unless canceled, the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price. We will tell you before a price change affects you.
Cancel at any time from your settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and access continues until then. Partial periods are not refunded except where the law requires it.
Taxes may be added depending on where you are.
If payment fails, access to paid features may be suspended until it succeeds. Your data is not deleted for non-payment, and you can still export it or delete your account.

Acceptable use

Don’t:

scrape, bulk-download or redistribute the data Datum shows you, or use it to build a competing dataset or service;
attempt to access another user’s data, or probe, disrupt or overload the service;
circumvent the paywall, rate limits or authentication;
use the service unlawfully, or to break the terms of any data source it relies on.

The market and fundamentals data in Datum is licensed for your personal use inside the product, and not for redistribution.

Availability

Datum is offered without an uptime guarantee. Nightly data refreshes can be late, incomplete, or fail; providers change or withdraw feeds; features change. We may modify or discontinue parts of the service, and will give reasonable notice of changes that materially reduce what you are paying for.

Your content and our product

The positions, notes and settings you enter remain yours. You grant Datum only the permission needed to store and process them in order to provide the service. Datum’s software, design, name, mark and the methodologies it publishes remain ours.

Ending it

You may stop using Datum and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law; where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Datum is provided as-is and without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for investment losses, lost profits, or indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of it or from reliance on any figure it displays. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use Datum after that means you accept the updated terms.
