Your holdings are yours.

Datum exists to tell you what you own and what it’s worth. That requires holding some sensitive information about you, so this page says plainly what is collected, what is never collected, who else can see it, and how to take it back.
What Datum collects
- Who you are. When you create an account, our identity provider gives Datum your email address, your name if you supplied one, and a stable account identifier.
- What you hold. If you link a brokerage, Datum receives your positions, cash balances and investment transactions for the accounts you select. If you track by hand, it holds whatever you enter.
- How you use it. Your preferences, watchlist, alert thresholds and display settings.
- Billing. Our payment processor handles your card and sends Datum the subscription status and the identifiers needed to reconcile it.
- Operational logs. Ordinary server and error logs, used to keep the service running and diagnose faults.
What Datum never receives
- Your brokerage credentials. You authorize the connection with your brokerage through a specialist connection provider. Your brokerage username and password are never sent to Datum and are never stored by it.
- Your card number. Card details go directly to the payment processor. Datum never sees them.
- Trading authority. The brokerage connection is requested read-only. Datum cannot place trades, transfer funds, or change anything in your brokerage account.
What Datum does not do
Your holdings are not sold. They are not shared with anyone for marketing, advertising or data-broker purposes, and they are not used to build advertising profiles. There is no advertising on Datum and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app or on this site.
Who else touches your data
Datum uses a small number of service providers, each for one job: an identity provider for sign-in, a brokerage connection provider for account linking, a payment processor for subscriptions, an email provider for notifications you have asked for, and a cloud host for computing and storage. Each receives only what its job requires, and none is permitted to use your data for its own purposes.
How it is protected
Traffic is encrypted in transit. The authorization token that lets Datum read a linked brokerage is encrypted before it is stored, with keys held separately from the database and managed by the cloud host’s key service. Access to production data is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
Storage in your browser
The app keeps your sign-in session in your browser’s session storage, so it is cleared when you close the tab, and remembers display preferences such as your theme in local storage. Neither is used for tracking. This marketing site sets nothing at all.
How long it is kept
Your portfolio data is kept for as long as your account exists. Unlinking a brokerage revokes Datum’s access to it and removes the synced positions and balances for that connection. Deleting your account removes your data. Transaction records that back a historical figure may be retained in de-identified form, and ordinary logs and records required for tax, accounting or fraud-prevention purposes are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can export everything Datum holds about you as a single file, and you can delete your account and its data. Neither is behind the subscription: a lapsed or canceled account can still export and delete. Both are in your account settings. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to correct your data or object to particular processing; ask and we will honour them.
Children
Datum is not intended for anyone under 18 and is not knowingly provided to them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
